Years of experience have shown many ear tags fall out within weeks of application due to application site infections. AgriLags developed and was awarded a patent on Infecta-Guard, a dissolvable coating of antibacterial solution containing chlorhexadine gluconate. The coating covers most of the stud and remains dry until applied to the ear where it slowly dissolves. Danger of Disease Transfer From Tags It's real, it happens. According to the University of Minnesota, Bovine Leukemia has been transmitted to 20% of U.S. dairy cattle - a $44 million annual production loss.
