SOLAR DYNAMO RECHARGEABLE AC/DC NO BATTERIES MULTIBAND AM FM TV WEATHER AVIATION SHORTWAVE RADIO This newest 5th Generation Version excellent radio system is a tremendous value just based on the money that you will save over the next five years. Combined with it's wide frequency coverage which includes local AM, FM, WEATHER, AVIATION and TV audio broadcasts and also a wide range Worldband Shortwave broadcasts it becomes a tremendous value for all around use and especially for emergencies with it's multiple power sources. By not having to purchase AA alkaline batteries as the unit comes with a NEW design much more powerful internal NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride) batteries that can be recharged from 500 to 1,000 times without any memory effect. 4 DIFFERENT POWER METHODS ARE AVAILABLE: 1.) The internal NiMH battery pack can be recharged with the included AC ADAPTER / CHARGER overnight and the radio will play for many hours. 2.) The NEW design much more powerful built in SOLAR PANEL can power the radio and/or recharge the internal NiMH battery pack in bright light. 3.) The built in NEW design much more efficient DYNAMO CRANKING SYSTEM will also recharge the internal NiMH battery pack if you are away from an AC outlet or a bright light source. 4.) As a backup system should all else fail or if you prefer, you can insert 3 AA Alkaline Batteries that can power the radio for a long time. AM - FM - TV - WEATHER - AVIATION & 4 SHORTWAVE BANDS ARE COVERED: a.) The incredible radio has FANTASTIC reception on the AM Medium Wave MW band and it has a WIDER frequency range for this NEW design from 530 kHz through 1710 kHz. It is better than most other radios for three times the price. Only the GE SuperRadio III is better and that radio is optimized for long distance AM with it's large internal ferrite rod antenna. b.) SHORTWAVE coverage is excellent as the spectrum is separated into four bands SW1, SW2, SW3 & SW4 and the WIDER frequency range for this NEW design is from 4.9 mhz through 22 mhz continuous. The reception is especially good for a multiband multifunction radio within it's price range. c.) FM has excellent sound quality and the TV audio for channels 2 through 13 makes it even more valuable as an all round useful entertainment unit. The FM band on the KA009 is separate from the two TV bands. d.) The WEATHER / VHF band allows the reception of US weather forecasts and a few taxi, police, fire, etc. services. THis band has been vastly improved over the lesser KA007 and the first time we can actually recommend this radio for 24 hour weather broadcast listening <.e.) The new AVIATION band allows the listening of civilian aircraft and airport communications. This band is very active if the radio is in vicinity of a major airport.
