Kerri Richards is presenting: Am one tube regen radio crystal clear
Here's a nice unique one tube am band regenerative ( regen) set that looks great and works great also, it is absolutely beautiful
This is a super high performance AM band regenerative set that will receive the entire AM band
This radio will work great with a 20 foot indoor single wire antenna strung room to room if you don't have a outdoor antenna and ground is all you need to receive stations
This set is built in a way that no wires are run on the top of the base
It is wired with heavy 18 gauge wire for better performance
A 12 volt AC adapter is all you need for power or you can use a 12 volt cell battery or a 12 volt lantern battery
No dangerous high voltage needed in my radio, just a simple 12 volt AC adapter will do fine
The radio is about 7 inches wide and 5 inches deep and about 7 inches high
The black acrylic base has a beautiful deep high gloss mirror finish and is also used in the interior of very expensive yatchs.
Another nice feature on this radio is the gold lettering, see pictures
All the hardware is brass and really stands out with the black acrylic base
This would make a great present for Dad or you or someone you know
This am band regen set is truely a collectable radio that you will be proud to own, it uses the best circuitry from long ago and present day
It has a beautiful wood cabinet base that was professionally built, the grain is beautiful, not too wild, just enough to make it pleasing to your eye
The coil is wound to 235uh and the tuning capacitor has a value of 380pf which means you will receive the entire am band 500 to 1800 KC
The radio has a bandspread varicap like your better communications receivers have to help separate the close stations and make tuning eaisier
I use a variable varicap, which is a electronic bandspread capacitor because it works better than a variable capacitor for bandspreading
IT also has a variable antenna trimmer capacitor that you can adjust to help tune the radio to your antenna and you can also peak in the stations for maximun volume
Please see all the pictures, bear in mind that the radio looks alot better in person than in the pictures, it's hard to show the true beauty of this radio without very expensive photography equipment like wide angle lens which I do not have
The tube used in this radio only requires 12 volts to operate, its a space charge tube
A 12 volt AC adapter is all you need for power to use this radio, sold at places like radio shack, sears, walmarts, etc., one rated at 1000ma, which is the same as 1 amp will last a long time for you, they usually costs between 10 and 17 dollars
No other power source is needed.
You can also use a 12 volt lantern battery or a gel cell
The controls across the front of the radio are the antenna trimmer, the variable bandspread varicap , the regen control and the main tuning capacitor.
The variable antenna trimmer capacitor with a knob for easy tuning is on the back near the antenna connection
This radio will pick AM stations during the day and at night you will hear more stations by "skip" AM radio signals bouncing back to earth from up in the sky, reception is better at night because during the day the suns electrical field absorbs radio signals
This radio will receive the entire AM broadcast band 500-1800 khz
Regeneration is very smooth and is adjusted with a control and it works great,
This radio tunes just right, not to broad or too sharp
It has a white gloss mirror finish acrylic base that is awesome
The tube used in this radio is NOS from the 1940s era
The tube is about 5 inches tall and about 2 inches in diameter.
It is a current amplifling tube not a voltage amplifing tube.
It is one of the best radios I have ever built, lots of ouput power on strong signals
All coils and capacitors are tested for the correct inductance and capacitance with a sinometer LC meter for proper operation
You will only need a 12 volt power supply because the tube used in my radio was originally mfg. for army jeep radios that had a 12 battery in the jee
Volume is very good and lots of stations can be picked up even with a short antenna.
This was the next best radio after crystal radios were built. Unlike crystal radios you have lots of volume and great selectivity with the addition of the one tube.
A indoor 20 foot single wire antenna strung from room to room and a ground or a outdoor antenna , ground and crystal radio type headsets are needed .
THE RESERVE PRICE IS 124.99 and parts and fees consume alot of that price
SORRY ABOUT THE PRICE BUT THERE ARE ALOT OF PARTS AND ALOT OF WORK AND TIME INVOLVED IN BUILDING ON
MONEY BACK GUARANTEED IF NOT HAPPY
