Total Station Leica T1000 DI1001 Wild Heerbrugg What amazes me at the most is to be able to offer such a fine and accurate total station system, a real made in Swiss once when Wild/Leica was building with a life time quality. I see here on a wall a photo showing the Wild factory from Heerbrugg/Swiss, I will scan it and add at one of my photos, that is just to pay my respects for that company of that time. When in my early 20's as a surveyor in training, the EDM I learned about was like 150Lb and it needed a 4 man crew just to place it in the new setup, than around 1977 or so the first modern EDM's showed on the market, what a miracle was when we, surveyors from that old Romania, my home country found out that smaller, one man operated EDMs came on the market!!! Working for Geophysical Exploration, I had to carry out long traverses using Zeiss Theo 020 or Dahlta 020 tachometers, the Wild T2s were used only by the Army Surveying Departments, just too expensive for civilians... Old days....memories...7 man crew, the surveyor at the gun, backsight one with a 4m rod, foresight the second with another 4m rod, back chain and fore chain another two guys, one with a shovel, one carrying the stakes, a hammer and writing the chainage on the stakes. 30 years and more memories....that day back in the summer of 1978 when we did survey and stake out 27559' of geophysical profile is something I wanted to share with you. Time changes, super fast total stations on the market, super fast GPS systems, I have nice days to remember about using that equipment also, but productivity and survey team feeling, nothing was for me as that day in those 29 years to follow....
