TRAM D201A AM/SSB 40 CH. BASE STATION VINTAGE BRUTE!!
The "Collectors Estate" Presents:
The magnificent Tram D201A... wood-paneled, hand-built, and a superior performer! This full-featured radio has it all: SWR and power meter, noise blanker and limiter, modulation light and control, separate transmit/receive tuners. Radio was bench tested and is on frequency, receives well, and has very strong transmit output. All features seem operational.
For those who have not operated a Tram D201A, the radio has a unique and very well-engineered "vernier" type receiver tuner. When you first turn the receiver knob, you are in the fine-tuning mode; turn a little farther, and the "gearing" changes and the knob quickly spins the dial to any channel you choose. It's easy and fun to zip over to another channel, then slow down and zero-in to exactly tune a station. This feature is unique to Tram.
The radio would earn a "10" rating, but the top lid is scuffed (see photos); a re-paint of the lid would bring the radio into almost-new state. The auxiliary knob added to the rear of the radio chassis has three positions; we tried all three and did not notice any change in performance. It may be that this switch enabled a separate VFO, but we cannot know for certain.
