This John Deere starter looks great and should fit A's from 1939 through 1946. The casting doesn't have any breaks or repairs on it that I can find. It does have some pitting on the bottom side (see picture). It has a good tag on it. And I took it to a place that works on starters generators etc. to have it tested and it doesn't work. They told me it needs either a new switch or contact. The switch looks pretty new so I think it might be the contact. But if the switch is a cheap made one (one not made by John Deere) it could easily be that. They said everything else on it looked ok. With some work it could work great. This is selling with no reserve! "DON'T WAIT! THIS ONE IS GOING FAST!"
