The Book of the Bandsaw is 83 pages, comb bound, 8x11, 39 diagrams and lots of text on building bandsaws, bandsaw mills, carriages, joining and sharpening blades, and assorted related subjects. I have built many bandsaws and bandsaw mills and lots of other machinery over the last 20 odd years, the above picture being one of the easiest and most basic ever seen anywhere. There are lots of different type mainframes, spindles, wheels, and other parts shown and explained in the book for shop bandsaws as well as mills which can be either scrounged from junkyards or cheaply built. 10 chapters show and detail various ways of building each component from mainframes to carriages, and advantages and disadvantages of each. Lots of choices. Methods of building things and places to scrounge which you will carry over into lots of other projects. Scale your shop saws and sawmills as you wish using these designs and your common sense. The above mill served me very well for over 5 years cutting mesquite and ponderosa pine, then sold to a friend and he ran it for many more years without major service. If your abilitys or ambitions are limited to following a specific set of plans using a specific list of materials and building one machine with no options or input on your part, there are plans out there to accomodate you. If, on the other hand you are a good fabricator and want to design and build your saws and mills from available parts that are often cheap or free then this is the book for you. copyrighted material.
