This is a very rare corn planter can that I think is complete. The lid is marked with a buck deer and Deere & mansur Company Moline, ILL. The inside of the lid read “JD Patented Nov. 28, 1893 Reissued, July 23, 1895 Y2678-B.â€The bottom outside reads “This side for wide kernels.†The bottom inside reads “Extra Small.†“Y2636-B†This planter can measures about 10 inches high by 8.25 inches in diameter. From research I found that this was used on a Deere & Mansur horse drawn corn planter and that this was one of the first generation metal cans, because previously wooden boxes had been used. This is in great condition. There is a 1 inch crack / rust through spot on the bottom metal (see photo).
