Discussion of Profit/Markup/Risk and Overhead in Estimator Pro
Since you are subcontracting out the striping you have ‘no risk’. If it takes 2 days instead of 1 the subcontractor bears the extra cost and not you. In this case you may be satisfied with only 5% profit on the striping item since you are protected and ‘guaranteed’ a profit regardless of the actual cost of the work.
Overhead can be added to each Category as a percentage but can also be variable depending on the risk. In the above example you may add 6% to the Labor and Equipment profit, 2% for the materials and 1% for subcontractor.
There is no distinct category or percentage for overhead.
