Conical springs for your straight (hand) telegraph keys. A hand key has little value without its spring.
These replacement springs were made by a large commercial spring manufacturing company. The model was an Army Signal Corps J-38 spring, since this size and style fits many other keys. They will fit Bunnell, Signal Electric, McElroy, all Signal Corps J-38 makes, and other hand keys.
If you find the tension (pressure) is a little high when installed on your key, just clip one or two turns off with wire cutters. They are of a uniform size and consistent tension, unlike hand-wound springs.
Note that these springs may not be appropriate for those hand keys that require "pigtail" springs that are supported in a small hole in the key base.
