The ABI Doppler or Ankle Brachial Index, measures peripheral artery disease or PAD. The American Heart Association, American Diabetes Foundation, and National Institute of Health, recommend using the ABI to identify patients who may have reduced peripheral circulation and may be at a higher risk of strokes and heart attacks. The ABI Kit includes everything you need to perform a exam including a CD that shows how the exam should be performed. Extra cuffs are provided for large and small patients and for greater flexibilty in movement. If wall blood pressure cuffs are used in your clinic you may need the extra cuffs. The Summit Doppler is a bi-directional doppler that measures blood flow to and away from the doppler head. A waveform printout is needed to show the blood flow results. As a result, the ABI Doppler is a stand alone test fully reimburseable by Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, etc..
