Katina Wood is presenting: One dozen (12) - delaware chicken hatching eggs
Delawares are on ALBC Critical list with less than 500 breeding birds in the US and globally endangered. Ironically they are also listed on the Slow Food Ark of Taste.
Developed in the '40s, this American breed are excellent layers of Jumbo+ sized brown eggs. Cocks grow to 8 lbs, hens to 6 lbs. Delaware hens can be mated to New Hampshire or Rhode Island Red roosters to produce sex-linked offspring. The male chicks have the delaware color. Female chicks are the color of the rooster. They are also know for rapid growth and fast feathering. My hens were laying at less than 6 months.
These are some of the most calm, docile chickens I've owned. They are not flighty. They actually stay in the yard!
