CNC Control System for Torch Cutting,
Engraving, and small Milling Machines
Many older engraving machines use electronics and software which dates back to the stone age. Many are unreliable or in need of replacement parts that are unavailable. These older machines were designed with unimpressive unipolar, voltage controlled drivers and R/L circuits with dropping resistors that heated up and wasted energy. Today's latest technology takes advantage of bipolar, constant current, chopper drives which are very efficient and compact, and most include anti-shorting circuitry that helps prevent against shorts and accidental damage.
Thousands of older machines are just collecting dust in a warehouse and are desparately in need of updated electronics that can bring them back to life. Check out this 3 axis controller, utilizing the latest technology electronics and software for your mechanically fine machine. It will make your old machine work better than when it was brand new and by a significant margin. Best of all, it will cost much less than you ever imagined!
The whole is greater than the sum of the parts:
MightyDrive SL 3 axis 40 Volt system
Motion controller with Feedrate Override
This is a complete pre-engineered package to automate your engraving, torch cutting, and table top milling machine. Just couple the motor shafts to your machine's drive screws, insert the OptiStep control card in your PC, plug in the cables, turn on the power, and install the software. You can immediately jog the motors by pressing ctrl-J, and then using the cursor keys! It's that easy! You can type in G-codes, import DXF and HPGL files, or import part programs generated with your CAM software. It's very flexible.
The latest technology constant current chopping drives used in the MightyDrive result in high feed and rapid rates, while the OptiStep motion controller insures maximum reliability with the use of opto-isolated inputs and outputs on ALL connections. Other systems may use direct connection or a printer port whose reliability is not acceptable for industrial applications.
You'll have access to many low cost accessories and tools. The most commonly needed ones are included with the package for the convenience and added savings. A full assortment of low cost tools and accessories are available.
MicroKinetics offers the best reasonably priced CNC systems and free technical support in the industry. Five year warranty on electronics and one year warranty on mechanics. MicroKinetics has been offering CNC components and systems to educational institutions, hobbyists, research facilities, and small machine shops for 18 years using the same business philosophy, expert engineering, and technical support!
The MightyDrive features the powerful UnoDrive motor drivers delivering 1.2 amps per phase to drive NEMA size 23 motors. The MightyDrive SL is equipped with a power switch, cooling fan, program controlled AC outlet, and an E-Stop button. Included is the OptiStep Plus Motion Controller, which provides state-of-the-art motor control at a very reasonable cost. The OptiStep Plus is a high performance, 4-axis motion control card for IBM PC/XY/AT compatible computers. Optically isolated control lines provide step and direction output signals, high and low limit switch inputs, current reduction outputs, and a feed hold input. The 23M80 stepper motors are matched and wired for optimum performance. These NEMA 23 motors deliver more than 83 oz/in of torque and are suitable for use with standard half stepping or microstepping drivers. Rear shaft allows mounting of handwheels or encoders, although neither is required for accurate motion. Each motor is professionally wired with MightyDrive mating connectors. MillMaster Pro for Windows software is a 3-axis milling CNC control on a PC, and includes a rich set of standard G & M codes. Visit our website for detailed specifications on every component.
