Portable Antenna System – QRP and QRO
Create a multitude of antennas and use coax or open wire feedline.
You can use this antenna system to create Inverted V’s, Inverted L’s, dipoles, doublets, verticals, v-beams and random wire antennas.
• Two self-contained, compact spool carrying cases that also act as insulators with mounting eyelets and wire locking bar. Each spool case contains a 34 foot long, 24 gauge, stranded copper, insulated wire terminated with and eye terminal. This allows you to attach and remove the spools from the center insulator.
I’ve used this system as a vertical with a counterpoise (supported by a 20 or 30 foot fishing pole), as a V-beam using two 10 foot fishing poles, as an indoor doublet, an open ended-loop and even as a very low mounted dipole for NVIS work. I have worked stations on both coasts on 40, 30 and 20 meters CW running 5 watts with this antenna configured as a dipole mounted inside my home. I removed three pictures from adjacent walls in my living room and hung the spools and center insulator off of the nails that were supporting the pictures. The antenna works well with power up to 100 watts SSB.
This antenna system works great if you are taking your QRP rig camping, traveling, operate from your deck or are not allowed to have permanent antennas in your neighborhood. In less than five minutes you can have this antenna up and running, and within a few minutes this antenna can be down and spooled into there carrying cases.
