You've seen it in clubs, on stage, at skating rinks, in movies and TV crime shows. This is a high efficiency blacklight fitting, based around a 15W fluorescent tube (WAY better at making black light than any other technology such as LEDs or incandescent). It's safe long wavelength black light too, so there are no health risks in using this sort of UV. The high impact see through casing has a reflector built in, and will bathe the room in UV.
