The coated C-5 grade (153) is a tough grade with a hardness of 90.8 Ra, a multilayer TiCN/TiC/TiCN/TiN coating, high TiC and TaC for cutting steel, and medium to high fracture toughness and medium abrasion resistance. 153 is designed for general purpose metal removal operations such as turning, boring, and milling. It performs best at medium cutting speeds and feed rates on medium interrupted cuts on a wide variety of carbon and alloy steels.
