This scanner is in ‘good used’ shape cosmetically. Unlike other scanners made out of flimsy plastic, this has a metal case and is built like a tank.
Proudly made by Americans in Cumberland, Indiana.
The scanner receives FM and covers the following VHF and UHF frequencies:
The scanner has 50 memories organized into 5 banks of 10 memories. There is also a ‘cache’ that will store 64 additional temporary frequencies for transfer into the memory banks.
This scanner has all the usual functions including frequency lockout, selectable scan speed, and memory or band scan. The scanner has LED digital readout and direct frequency entry. The scanner also has a 12-hour clock.
This scanner has several truly unique functions, including the ability to scan a band segment, and record all active frequencies found there in the temporary memory, for later transfer into the memory banks.
If you want to find out what is going on between 450 and 460 MHz, for example, you can just set the scanner to scan that band segment, let it scan for a few hours, and voila! all of the frequencies with activity will be recorded in the temporary memory.
Other unique functions this scanner has include recording how many times there is activity on a given memory frequency, so you can determine how much activity there is on a given frequency.
What’s nice about this scanner is it takes about 5 minutes to learn how to use it, unlike other scanners.
In addition to the internal speaker, there are both low and high impedence audio output jacks on the back.
A separate DC output jack on the rear panel functions with the squelch to provide current for a tape recorder, recording only when the squelch is open.
There is a jack on the rear panel for an external antenna, if desired, and an adapter plug is included with the scanner.
The scanner can also be used with a 13.8V DC power source and can be used mobile.
This was truly an amazing scanner for its time, and has unique functions I’ve not encountered on any other scanner.
