Fifty pounds of food grade fresh water amorphous Diatomaceous Earth (DE). This is Perma-Guard brand Diatomaceous Earth (fossil shell flour) and contains less than 1/2% crystalline silica. According to the manufacturer, it's the highest purity available and safe for human consumption. This listing is for a large 50 pound factory sealed bag. The bag is about 36 inches X 18 inches X 8 inches.
Perma-Guard DE meets or exceeds the FDA requirements to qualify as food grade. Contact us for a complete mineral analysis of this product.
Many people think that all Diatomaceous Earth is the same. However, it's important to use food grade DE for your animals. There are over 600 deposits of DE west of the Mississippi. The vast majority of these deposits are very impure and can contain all sorts of foreign material, including dangerous chemicals such as arsenic.
For pets and livestock, food grade DE is used to control internal and external parasites. Mix it in dry animal feed for internal parasite control. The suggested mixing rate is 2% of the total weight of the dry ration (one pound per 50 pounds of livestock feed). For external parasites, lightly dust or rub it onto the animal.
Along with controlling parasites, long-term users of Perma-Guard DE contend that it also stimulates basic metabolism, converts feed better, results in better coat and hoof condition, reduces annual vet bills and reduces animal stress. We feed it to our own animals and are firm believers in its health benefits.
DE can be also used to control cockroaches, slugs, aphids, earwigs, silverfish, ants, adult flea beetles, lice, mites, and many other insects. Sprinkle it in the garden, on the grass, and around the foundation of your house. Use inside on pantry shelves, under sinks, closets, on rugs, and in corners and crevices.
DE dust can irritate the eyes and lungs, so wear goggles and a dust mask when applying it. The absorbent qualities of DE can result in drying of the hands if handled without gloves.
