A book on Garretts' work as the first British manufacturer to offer a full compression ignition engine in an agricultural or industrial tractor, taking in subsequent designs of tracked vehicles and the rich variety of specialist tractors built for peat extraction. The history commences with the Crawley Garrett Agrimotor, notes the International 15/30 that fellow AGE member Blackstones fitted with their oil engine that was sent to Leiston for scrutiny, and then follows the development of the Garrett tractor with Invicta engines from Aveling and Porter and Brotherhood's diesel engine. Success was achieved after the collapse of AGE when a Gardner 4L2 engine was used.
