Great for Fire Departments, Plumbing and HVAC contractors, Electrical and Industrial uses...basically for any application that requires identifying hot/cold sources. This Talisman Thermal Imager works well and is made of high-quality components to meet the severe conditions when used by fire fighters. The image appears in black and white with black being coldest to white being hottest. The video overlay is a secondary CCD camera activated by the yellow button atop the unit and serves to add detail to the image for orientation. This is a serious piece of equipment that I purchased from a fire brigade in England. The voltage is 220V EUR so I am including a voltage converter as seen in the photos. The 2 batteries included work great and charge perfectly. The format is PAL so I am also including a PAL to NTSC converter (not shown) that can connect to the camera for recording images while using (cable and adapter included). The unit does not include a manual but it is simple to use. There is a red button on the bottom of the unit that you simply press to power up. In under 30 seconds the display shows a timer, goes white for a moment then the image comes to life. It works fine. If you place your hand on a cool surface, the heat signature shows up clearly. With the video overlay, the image comes into very clear detail and looks pretty clear even without the overlay. Your hand shows up white but when you place it in water and look again it is black with lighter shades at the joints. The camera is designed to pick up hot spots or cooler areas when aimed at a buring structure so it works well even in very hot temperatures. Includes: Talisman Thermal Imager, 2 batteries, Charger, US>EUR voltage converter, PAL>NTSC video converter, cable and adapter plus hard shell carrying case for camera. Talisman is the top of the line thermal imager. New units range from $13,000 to over $20,000 and the overlay feature is extra.
