HISTORY: This tube tester was used by family members approximately 35 years ago as part of a hobby and business involving restoring vintage radios and repairing TVs. Then, it was in storage in a home basement for 34 years. Last year, I got it out and used it to test a lot of vintage tubes. I actually was able to compare its function to that of a Hickok 600A Tube Tester which I also owned at the time. This B&K 667 did agree with the Hickok 600A. This B&K 667 gives a more general BAD or GOOD result. In other words, 1 year ago, if a tube was good on my 600A, it also tested GOOD on this B&K 667. SO, one year ago I concluded the unit works, EXCEPT the number 1 and 3 Sockets DO NOT WORK. Even with a good tube in place, the meter will give NO READING on these two sockets, so I believe there is probably some wiring connections that may be loose.
TODAY: This morning I warmed the unit up and again tested some tubes. I was able to confirm that the unit will power up. I have a few good tubes laying around and I was able to verify that the meter gives good and normal response on the 6, 9 and 10 sockets. I was able to confirm that Sockets 1 and 3 do NOT work (no response). As for the remaining sockets, I have no tubes to test for those sockets so I am unable to confirm they work or don't work, although they worked 1 year ago, and the unit has simply been stored since that time.
OTHER COMMENTS ON CONDITION: Missing are the screws that hold the instrument panel and "guts" into the case. Cord and plug are good. Tube cap attachment wire is good. Carrying case lacks a latch but otherwise is good if you can figure out a way to attach a closure. A few of the numbers wore off on one side of the SELECTOR dial so numbers 2,3, 4 and 5 are now marked in black felt tip marker.
OTHER ITEMS INCLUDED: Along with this unit there is some paperwork: The original B&K Model 667 Instruction Manual; The parts list and a SCHEMATIC (should come in handy if you are a "repair capable" person); and, the Dyna Jet Tube Tester Model 667 Setup Chart (this is the book that gives you the settings to check the tubes). Winner of this listing will also receive these paper articles.
SIZE: Carrying Case dimensions are 14 by 10 by 6 inches.
