This is a wonderful old vintage height gage made by BROWN AND SHARPE. I don't know how old it is, but the case is the black cloth material over wool and lined with purple velvet. My guess would be that it is at least 50 years old. It is B%S part number 585 and the height bar is marker 11 inches and has graduations for another inch above that. It looks like stainless steel, but a magnet is attracted to it. It has a 25 vernier scale and a person with a good eye can split a thousandths with this gage. Included with the gauge is a scribe and clamp. The scribe is sharp. There is a depth gage attachment included and another attachment that I am not too familiar with. It fits in the clamp and has a thumb screw to hold it tight. It is Brown an Sharp's part number 585A-I am quite sure it is another depth gage attachment. The case is in good condition but the two end hinges are loose from the bottom of the box. They need to be drilled and a screw inserted to hold them in place. A simple matter. The case is 14 by 5 by 2 inches. This is a fine machinist or mechanic's tool set and in very good condition. (please look at our rules and privacy policy) |
