This is a Panasonic RF-8000 Vintage 24 Band AM FM SSB CW Receiver. One of the most complicated and expensive shortwave portable receivers ever made. Here is a link for the history and features of this radio. /RF8000.html This particular radio came out of an estate of a retired Navy captain. He originally purchased two of these of which I both obtained. One was pretty nice and stored in his bedroom closet which I sold quickly for $4500 to a collector. This one was stored in his garage and did not fair as well. It needs cosmetic and operational restoration. Read details below. If you live outside the US I would recommend having one of your US friends arrange the sale for you. Cosmetics-Needing restoration. The outside body covering has deteriorated from age and will need to be completely replaced. As well as the inside and outside of the lid. It’s flakey, brittle, and not attractive in its present condition. Covering on the outside of the lid is loose. Bottom rubber feet have some stress cracks and white residue around the bottom screws. The good news is that the inside control area is nice and clean, pop up antennas are bright & strait, and the battery compartment is clean. Some minor wear to the top handle. Rubber cap that covers the external antenna port is detached. External antenna inside the front lid has some minor pitting but the chrome is bright. If it is done right it could be a very presentable item. Includes the radio, front cover, external antenna, internal battery tubes, and power cord (not original). No manual, charts, or other documentation. Nothing else is included. What you see is all that I have.
