This is a used "Eggbeater" antenna. I bought it used and it was mounted outside for about 2 years. It performed very well. The last time I used it, the SWR was good and the antenna performed well. There is some rust on the base, but the connector is free of corrosion. I had the coax connection sealed with coax seal. The antenna does have the optional RK-2M radial reflector/base mount kit. By spacing the EGGBEATER 1/8 wave above a metal surface or adding the optional RK-2M radial kit for base installations, the circular lobe increases by 6 dB, producing a hemispherical pattern. No rotation or steering is required. For terrestrial mobile, base, net control, contest or field day operation, increasing the distance above ground or over a metallic surface improves the horizontal radiation by 6 dB.
