“SAMPLE†will not appear on the print you purchase ... it is only on the scanned image. This is a photo from the storm sewer construction on the Irwin Street Job #495 in Dayton, Ohio in 1965. This NORTHWEST Model 95 was powered with a MURPHY MP-21 diesel engine, a real workhorse in its day! Equipped here with a 2-1/2 CY hoe bucket and cable operated, the Model 95 is setting pipe in an open trench. Operator is Jim Shook, a master-artist with a backhoe! This job crossed the Mad River in Dayton and was extremely wet. A well-point system can be seen on either side of the trench. An older CATERPILLAR 966 can be seen parked on the right. This NORTHWEST Model 95 cable backhoe s/n: 21782, or pullshovel as Northwest preferred to call them, was one of two owned by our company. They both saw extensive heavy service as backhoes for 10-12 years until finally replaced by the more productive large hydraulic backhoes. At that time both Model 95’s were converted to draglines and were used continuously until sold in 1982 ... wonderful, sturdy, productive machines!! This photo was enlarged from a b&w Polaroid photo, so has some distortion on the right side as you can see in the scan, but it is amazing clear and shows a good deal of detail. This reproduction photo is professionally printed on quality Kodak or Fujifilm paper with excellent gloss and is in mint-like condition.
