Harris Gates HFL-1000 HF Amplifier & Power Supply
Here is a Harris Gates HFL-1000, 2 - 32 MHz HF amplifier and power supply. This is a 3-stage military/commercial amplifier that requires only 100 mW drive for full power output. The first stage is a class A 6CL6, second stage is a class A 8117 and the final amplifier is a grounded screen 4CX1000A. There are tuned circuits between all stages and the output is a pi-network. As you would expect this is one incredibly robust amplifier. Tuneup is as smooth as can be. The wattmeter picture shows 1000 effortless watts output on 3.8 MHz. The amplifier will make considerably more power.
The amplifier is in good condition with some 'rack rash'. Both top and bottom covers are with the amplifier, however, the bottom cover is a bit scuffed up. The top cover is in good condition. Inside, the unit appears to be completely stock as far as I can tell. There is some minor evidence that it has been worked on over the years but most everything appears to be original. The only thing that appears not to work is the wattmeter. I haven't looked into the problem - it may be a simple fix as there isn't much to it.
The power supply is serious overkill and was designed to run key down forever. It must weigh in at close to 200 lbs. HV and screen supplies are choke input with oil filled capacitors. The HV transformer is a behemoth as can be seen in the picture. Condition of the power supply is excellent. The only problem is with the two front panel handles. They are both missing the lower handle extensions and lack the twist locking mechanisms. This of course does not affect the operation in any way. This power supply requires a stout 120 or 240 line.
Also included is the interconnect cable that connects the power supply to the amplifier, a 220 volt power cord, operation/maintainence manual and power supply dolly.
Here are specification straight from the operating manual.
