I have not opened the oven to see if it contains a crystal. Speaking of the oven, it should be pointed out that the insulation (some kind of insulating foam) has deteriorated around the oven housing. This too can be easily cleaned and replaced with newer insulating material. The actual oven is solidly made of metal and is unharmed. I believe a simple clean-up and replacement with standard household fiber-glass insulation should do the trick. I am an amateur radio operator, and I think putting this old unit back in service would make for an interesting and enjoyable experience.
