This tool is really a combination of the collet and step chuck and will add greatly to the speed and convenience fo you lathe when machining small parts requiring a short grip. Step chucks should be recessed to approximate closely the diameter of the work to be done. A screw-type draw in spindle and closing rings are made first, then the step-collets are cast and machined to fit your desired sizes. FROM 1939, A 2 PAGE PLAN TO BUILD THIS ITEM.
