This is a very unique antenna system designed for emergency or field communications. Similar to the Eyring 302A in design and function but for civilian use.
The ELPA is a "ground cooperative" broadband, traviling wave antenna. It is designed to be layed directly on the ground, or better yet elevated 2 feet above ground on non-conductive steaks. It does not require an expensive supporting structure such as a tower. ELPA antenna can be deployed in areas where other antennas cannot.
It is very broadband and covers from 1.8 to 30Mhz without any tuning. It covers ALL frequencies from 1.8 to 30Mhz NOT just amateur bands. It does not require an antenna tuner and is more efficient without one. It has a bi-directional "figure eight" horizontial beamwidth pattern. It has a elevation beamwidth if 160 degrees. That is almost full coverage from horizon to horizon. This very large elevation angle allows the antenna to be used for low angle long distance sky wave propagation as well as high angle Near Vertical incident Skywave (NVIS) propagation. With multiple elements the ELPA can be configured as a very directional antenna
Info for NVIS relating to Ham radio HERE.
Alternative configurations are also possible using just the balun modules and adjusting the wire element lengths for frequency of operation.
Included is the IVIE antenna system, instruction manual. 11x 4' steaks and plastic wire nuts, 4x YO-YO antenna windup elements with longer high quality teflon wire. (not the short cheap crap they come with) 95' of RG-8X coax with UHF males. This would be all you need to setup and operate the antenna.
