Manuals HEATHKIT IM-18 VTVM TUBE + Solid State MOD kit
In the 1960's, this classic vaccum tube voltmeter has replaced the venerable V-6, V-7, V-7A and IM-11. Later on, it got a facelift with the blue and white IM-5218. The instrument makes accurate measurements of DC+, DC-, AC rms and peak-to-peak voltages, plus resistance. The design is simple and rugged, yet timelessly accurate.
This VTVM employs vaccum tubes for rectification and amplification (although Heath later sold solid state plug-in replacement for both tubes). it uses a combination AC-OHMS-DC switching test probe and a single jack input connection for both test probe and ground leads.
ALSO INCLUDED, THE SOLID STATE MODIFICATION sheet Model IMA-18-1 which show how to replace the original 6Al5 and 12AU7 tubes in many Heath's and other BRAND VTVMs.
As usual, it is a very detailed construction and operation book.
Usual check marks. 35 pages ( dated 1968 ). No damage, no stain, no dog ears.
Below is the part list of Heathkit IMA-18-1 manual/sheet.
During the Heathkit era which lasted from the late 1940's through the mid 1980's, building Heathkits was a favorite activity for many electronics enthusiasts whose interests ranged from hi-fi/stereo and ham radio to computers, radio control, and home electronics. Heathkits were first marketed by mail-order, with advertisements appearing in popular electronics and amateur radio publications such as Popular Electronics, Radio Electronics, CQ and QST. This was a time where enthusiasts eagerly awaited the next issue of their favorite electronics magazine to see if Heath had introduced any new kits. Hobbyists maintained an annual mailbox vigil, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new Heathkit catalog.
