Here for your consideration is the original version of the MFJ 989C 3 KW VersaTuner V. This tuner has the ceramic roller inductor and the vinyl coated (rather than painted) cabinet. There are a few scuffs on the vinyl coating but none through to the metal. Overall I'd rate the physical condition of this tuner as Very Good. Nothing is missing, all controls operate freely and smoothly and there is no evidence of it having ever arced over. The switches are clean and there are no burn marks on the roller inductor nor anywhere else. As you can see from the photos this unit is in clean condition and has been in a smoke-free environment if that is important to you. The specifications are quite extensive but the highlights are that this tuner is a T-Match type with two large tuning capacitors and a ceramic roller inductor coupled to a good quality turns counter. If you are unfamiliar with this tuner please visit the MFJ website and review the specifications. They are much more than I can reproduce here. Other features include a built-in lighted cross needle SWR and Wattmeter, a built-in Dummy Load, Antenna Switch, Balun, ceramic switches, ceramic feedthrough for open wire lines, tilt bail, and up to 3 KW PEP SSB rating. The frequency coverage is the entire HF spectrum from 1.8 MHz to 30 MHz and everything in between including MARS and WARC bands plus the new 60M band. Even if you don't operate with high power the heavy-duty components and features work just fine with lower power stations.
