Manufacture: Payne Engineering Part Number: 18EZ-4-50 Description: Power Control; 3-Phase Solid State The Model 18EZ three-phase series solid state power control is designed to provide efficient, proportional voltage control - from zero to maximum - for all types of CONSTANT RESISTANT electrical heating loads. ZERO-FIRE proportional controls will, typically, fire or trigger each thyristor at the very beginning of each AC sine wave cycle so that only integral cycles are allowed to pass through to the load. For proportional control one can take an arbitrary time period such as one second (or 60 complete cycles) as follows: Power/On/Off: 10% power/6 cycles/54 cycles 50% power/30 cycles/30 cycles 54% power/54 cycles/6 cycles Each thyristor pole of the 18EZ Power Control is equipped with two inverse parallel connected thyristors selected to provide Vbo CLAMPING PROTECTION against normal transient voltage spikes found on industrial mains. An R-C network is provided to minimize high frequiency noise difficulties. SHORT-CIRCUIT PROTECTION is guaranteed with the special power fuse mounted on each thyristor pole This power section is similar in function to a set of electromechanical contacts in the old contactor technology: each pole is separate and connected in series with your load circuit. The TRIGGER CIRCUIT BOARD mounted on the face of the unit provides the proper logic control signals to vary the output voltage of the power control by adjusting the time at which the thyristors are turned on.
